This is the best safety razor I ever owned. The knurling pattern provides the perfect amount of grip and the quality of the threads (something I look for in razors) is flawless.I have another adjustable safety razor whose shave can be changed with the turn of a knob. The weight, complexity, and flimsiness of such an adjuster is inferior to the simplicity of interchangeable parts, as found on this Rockwell. This is a lifelong purchase I feel good about.Or it was, until the TSA removed it from my checked luggage. I hope the thief gets razor burn, but I know they won't.This is one of those things where you just have to use it to understand the hype. I was hesitant to purchase it because of the price, but I wanted something that would last a long time. My wife and I both use this razor and it is really great that we have so many options for intensity. It has really good balance and a great weight to it. It is obviously a quality product that should last us a very very long time. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.I really appreciate the performance of this razor and agree with the other reviewers that it gives a great shave. However, I paid the extra $$$ for the dark red painted one and out of the box, before I even used one of the plates, I noticed a spot where the paint/red coloring had come away from a corner. It makes me regret not buying the plain stainless steel. The paint is also (after the second shave), coming of of the threads on the top/cap. I can sort of understand that as you have metal rubbing on metal parts when you're assembling it. However, it might have been better if they had left the threaded post unpainted.This is my first time trying a safety razor. My very very first impression was not the best because the outer packaging for this is a little bit cheap. Flimsy box that was kinda coming apart/opened, and wasn't well protected in transit. So if I were getting this as a gift, it's a shame because the contents are so much nicer than that initial impression. After that though, everything is fantastic... all seems very high quality, super attractive item to have out, and works wonderfully.This is a well made razor. I got it for my son. He likes it, but since he has used electric razors for so many years he hasn't been able to get as clean a shave from this as his electric razor. He told me that someone with experience would probably find this razor great!I've used a Merkur Razor Adjustable Futur Safety Razor, MK-700002 for many years and will never go back to any standard 'disposable razor' or 'cartridge razor'. The shave I get with a safety razor is far, far superior. This Rockwell Razer 65 is more expensive than my trusty Merkur, and instead of a 'twist to select' for blade height, the Rockwell uses a series of plates that you can swap in and out. The stem of the Rockwell screws into the two plates, making changing the razor a little more involved than the Merkur. Having said that, I think the plate system does a better job at giving a consistent shave without some of the guesswork of a dial adjustment. Once you figure out which plate to use, you are pretty much good to go.This razor is made from a nice weight of stainless steel and it feels really good in the hand. I've gotten a consistently good shave from it, and have found that the lower number plates make it possible to shave areas which I'd never previously considered with a safety razor. The one big issue with this set is that it doesn't include any sort of 'blade bank'. This is an under $5 item, and without it, you won't have anywhere safe to dispose of used razors (just throwing them in the trash is NOT ok). It's a glaring omission, considering the price and the fact that Rockwell presents this as a gift set. It's enough to knock a single star off an otherwise five star product.Rockwell Razors 6S Adjustable Stainless Steel Double Edge Safety RazorThis is one impressive razor. It is a machined piece of steel. It comes in three colors for your coordinating pleasure. I have the black one and it looks awesome, so modern and impressive. It’s a traditional safety blade razor and comes with some super high quality blades from Sweden, no less. This can be displayed on your bathroom vanity with pride. This will certainly impress your visitors seeing this on display. It shaves like nothing you’re used to. It’s an amazing shaver and is like an all new experience. If this is in you’re wheelhouse and the cost isn’t prohibitive then you will enjoy this super high quality product.
